Itchy scalp
Itchy scalp? Restore calm in 3 steps.
A mild routine that cleanses without drying out — leaving your scalp feeling calm and comfortable again.
“If my scalp is sensitive, I always opt for mild: cleansing without 'stripping' and then soothing.”
Do you recognize this?
Your scalp is often out of balance if you recognize this:
- Itching or tingling feeling after washing
- Tight scalp (as if it’s “taut”)
- Small white flakes due to dryness
Why itching occurs
An itchy scalp is often caused by dryness and irritation. Many shampoos cleanse so strongly that the skin barrier becomes irritated. Then your scalp "protests": itching, tightness and sometimes flakes.
The solution is usually simple: mild cleansing + soothing + protecting.
Step 1 — Mild cleansing (2–3× per week)
Goal: clean without depleting your scalp.
How to use: gently massage for 30–60 sec, rinse thoroughly.
Choose: a shampoo without aggressive cleansers (preferably without SLS/SLES) and without silicones (like those on this site).
Step 2 — Soothe & hydrate (after each wash)
Goal: reduce itching and restore comfort.
How to use: apply to lengths and (if appropriate) lightly to scalp / roots, leave on briefly, rinse out.
Choose: aloe vera / nourishing oils, without “slippery” silicones.
Step 3 — Protect & care (between washes)
Goal: keep scalp balanced, reduce urge to scratch.
How to use: apply a small amount to the scalp or roots (depending on the product), preferably in the evening or on non-wash days.
Choose: a scalp tonic/mist or a light oil (not too heavy).
